Eric Swenson

biography

Eric Swenson has been drawing and painting from childhood. He is a graduate of Southwest Missouri State University with a BS in Education to teach art from first to twefth grades, and debate, dramatics, and English in high school. His experience in the arts includes painting theatre backdrops, trompe l'oeil in homes, and writing and illustrating in newpapers. As a Navy journalist, his articles and drawings appeared in newspapers across the United States and in Japan and the far east. His professional career included writing training courses in Navy schools; and producing, writing, shooting and editing video tape documentaries for a large U. S. Navy Research and Development Lab on Point Loma in San Diego.

Eric specializes in oil landscapes and color photography that have been displayed in juried shows at the San Diego Art Institute in Balboa Park and the Palm Springs Desert Museum. He won first place in photography at the Saddleback Art League in Laguna Niguel in 2004, and at the La Jolla National Digital Show in 2005. He has shown his paintings in the Niguel Art Association in Dana Point and Design Metaphor gallery in Palm Springs, and has had a one-man show in the lobbies of the Laguna Beach Playhouse and Cygnet Theatre in San Diego. His photography was in the Women On Top Exhibition and Fundraiser for the San Diego Women's History Museum and Educational Center in 2005. He has received Honorable mentions for a painting and a photograph at the San Diego Art Institute. In 2006, he was in the 37th Annual National Juried Exhibition at the Palm Springs Art Museum, where he won the Jane Behman Gallery Exhibition Award, and in the Without Limits show at the Expressions of Mexico Gallery in San Diego.
